Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Does anyone have any regulations they’d like to pass along that relate to exterior lighting for athletic facility (i.e. high school or college football stadiums) near residential areas ?

Restrictions on temporary storage containers within residential areas

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Dear members:

The City of Crystal is requesting information regarding the placement of temporary cargo-like storage containers on residential lots (i.e. PODS). Does your community allow these types of containers? If so, are there restrictions with regards to location, size and how long they can be on a property?

Our code does not currently address them specifically. We may look to amend our code to specifically address them, but would like feedback on how other communities address them.

I am also looking for information with regards to alternative energy sources like wind mills/generators and dish solar generators and similar structures in residential districts. Our code does not presently list them as permitted or accessory uses and are therefore prohibited. Does your community permit these types of structures, and if so, what are the restrictions with regards to size, height, location, type, etc.?

Thank you for your time!

Replatting Question

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Do you require replatting in those instances where one property owner sells a small non-builable parcel to the adjacent property owner ? A good example: Neighbor A sells a 10′ wide parcel of his land to neighbor B so that neighbor B can use that land as setback area for a garage addition that he would like to construct. If you do not require replatting, what processes do you use to review and approve this situation ?

Site Advertising on Ballfields

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Hi,

The City of North Branch is exploring the possibility of allowing Off – Site advertising on the ball field fencing in our City Parks. One concern that has been raised is that we currently do not allow off – site advertising within the City. We are looking for help from those cities that do have such signage and how is it handled.

Thank you for any assistance. You can respond to alanc@ci.north-branch.mn.us.
