1000 Friends of Minnesota (1000 FOM), a nonprofit membership organization and Section 501(c)(3) public charity with offices in St. Paul and Brainerd, MN, is seeking a President and CEO to lead it to higher levels of activity, funding, effectiveness and recognition in contributing to effective growth management. The President offices in St. Paul, reports to the Board of Directors and has full responsibility and accountability for the organization’s operations and fundraising. Founded in 1993 as a program of the Land Stewardship Project, 1000 FOM grew out of citizens’ concerns with the ramifications of Minnesota’s sprawling growth patterns. 1000 FOM successfully spun off as a separate organization in 1998. We are Minnesota’s only statewide organization dedicated solely to growth management issues. MPO Planner / Engineer – City of Greensboro, NC

Duties of the position include: 1) support the Technical and Policy Committees of the MPO and the ongoing transportation planning process; 2) work on MPO plans, programs, and studies including the Long Range Transportation Plan, the Transportation Improvement Program, the Congestion Management System, and bicycle and pedestrian plans, 3) support state and local project development and work on feasibility studies, environmental documents, and the design process; 4) support other initiatives including bicycle and pedestrian planning and project development, comprehensive planning, and public involvement and outreach activities. Candidates with strong travel demand forecasting skills will support regional model development and use on a range of MPO and regional efforts.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree in urban planning, civil engineering or a related field, with a Masters Degree and professional certification (e.g. AICP, P.E. etc.) highly desirable.
Applied knowledge of the practice of transportation planning is required, with progressive experience in the metropolitan planning process and/or transportation project development desired. Specialized experience and knowledge of transportation analysis methods such as travel demand forecasting, GIS analysis, and planning for pedestrians and bicyclists is preferred. Strong computer skills are critical. The demonstrated ability to work on several projects simultaneously and in a team environment is essential. Strong research, writing, and public speaking skills are needed.
Salary: The starting salary for this position is dependent on qualifications with a highly competitive benefits package. This position is EXEMPT under FLSA.
